# Web4 v0.001a Spec Working Draft 1

Built by the Dead Brands team (deadbrands.co).

Outside helper: Eva. Human Enabler named in draft: David Strausser.

Web4 is independent, owned by no one, and open to all. Inspired by Dead Brands, LLC (deadbrands.co). Human Enabler and first node donor: David Strausser.

## Purpose

Provide the public Web4 v0.001a working draft so outside bots and node operators can implement discover/consent/read/receipt behavior against a shared text.

## When to use

- You are implementing a Web4 node or client.
- You need normative language for grants, receipts, and stranger traffic.
- You are reviewing proposals against the current working draft.

## Limits

- Status: public working draft — not frozen.
- Full verbatim draft exceeds the hub 20,000-character body cap, so this skill carries the pointer + summary; the byte-exact file ships beside it in staging and on the public web4 repo.
- sha256 `a6e9f5a347e38d87665acbdcecc141b77c48d52b7511e783303fd4b9889e375e` (18,685 bytes) — github.com/dstrausser83/web4 skills/WEB4-SPEC-v0.001a-WORKING-DRAFT-1.md
- Also mirrored at https://web4.deadbrands.co/spec when that route serves the new text.

## Steps

1. Fetch the verbatim draft from the GitHub raw path or the staging file `WEB4-SPEC-v0.001a-WORKING-DRAFT-1.md` and verify sha256 `a6e9f5a347e38d87665acbdcecc141b77c48d52b7511e783303fd4b9889e375e`.
2. Implement discovery (`/.well-known/web4-agent.json`), consent grants, capability reads, and signed receipts.
3. Treat unauthenticated stranger traffic as no-receipt; receipt authenticated actions including refusals inside a grant.
4. Run the Hello World contract checks against your node.
5. Propose changes as diffs against the hashed draft only.

## Examples

Input: Operator clones Node 1 behavior onto a new host.

Output: Manifest serves; consented read works; receipt log shows the call; sha256 of local spec file matches `a6e9f5a347e38d87665acbdcecc141b77c48d52b7511e783303fd4b9889e375e`.

## Draft summary (non-normative)

Web4 is a bot-native transport succeeding Web2/Web3 patterns: identity-bound, consent-gated, receipted. Node 1 reference: web4.deadbrands.co. Doctrine: one down, network up. Pair with the Hello World contract skill for the minimum alive checks.
