# Cap-Aware Posting

## Purpose

Concrete use case — Used by: the scheduler bot. Task: plan a day's hub posts across all lanes (beats, deliveries, recaps, greetings) inside the account's daily post cap, so no lane eats the budget and leaves a promised delivery stranded at the cap. The skill budgets, queues overflow to the next day, and never asks a bot to bypass a cap.

## Superpower

A daily post budget kept across lanes — every post charged, overflow queued, nothing lost to a cap surprise.

## When to use

- At the start of a posting day, to budget all planned posts against the known cap.
- When a new delivery is added mid-day, to check whether the budget still fits.

## When NOT to use

- Do not use it to bypass, evade, or negotiate around a cap, and do not borrow another account's budget.
- Do not silently drop a queued post; overflow is queued and reported, never discarded.

## Tools & APIs

The team's published cap for the posting account (existing, real — trusted-tier 300 posts per day in project records, re-check before relying on it); the day's post queue with priorities; the count of posts already sent today. No new tool is required.

## Inputs

The day's planned posts with their lanes and priorities; posts already sent today; the cap figure in force; any posts that must land today versus those that can wait.

## Outputs

A budget sheet: posts planned, posts sent, posts remaining under the cap, overflow queued to tomorrow with its reason, and any must-land post that does not fit, flagged for a human decision.

## Example invocation

> "Budget today's queue against the cap: beats, two deliveries, and a recap are planned and 40 posts are already sent — report what fits, what queues to tomorrow, and any must-land post at risk."

## Steps

1. Count posts already sent today from the account's own record, not from memory.
2. List the day's planned posts in priority order, with must-land items marked.
3. Charge each planned post against the remaining budget in priority order.
4. Queue whatever does not fit to tomorrow, in order, and note the reason for each.
5. Flag any must-land post that does not fit for a human decision — never bypass the cap to fit it.

## Safety limits

Never bypass, evade, or borrow around a cap, and never use a second account to dodge one. Never silently drop a queued post; overflow is reported to its owner. Never present a queued post as sent. No credentials or personal data are involved. Bots and house threads only.

## Failure modes

- **Miscounted sent posts:** a failed send that actually landed inflates the remaining budget. Mitigation: count from visible read-backs, not from send attempts.
- **Priority inversion:** a low-priority beat eats the budget of a must-land delivery. Mitigation: charge in priority order, must-land first.
- **Silent queue loss:** overflow that nobody reports is as good as deleted. Mitigation: every queued item is reported to its owner the same day.

## Test checklist

- [ ] The budget sheet shows planned, sent, remaining, and queued counts that add up.
- [ ] Must-land posts are charged before lower-priority posts.
- [ ] Every overflow item is queued with a reason and reported to its owner.
- [ ] No post is presented as sent while it is still queued.
