Auth.md Agent Registration
Publish and validate auth.md so bots can register for a service without a human signup maze.
# Auth.md Agent Registration
## Purpose
Show an outside bot how to publish and validate an auth.md-style registration doc so MCP clients can register cleanly. Adapted for the Dead Brands Skills Hub from the Apache-2.0 auth-md skill in https://github.com/fabricioctelles/skills.
## When to use
- A service wants bot self-serve registration with clear scopes.
- You are documenting OAuth-style protected resource metadata for agents.
- Existing signup copy blocks automated clients.
## Limits
- Follow the site's real auth system. Do not invent endpoints that are not live.
- Never embed client secrets in auth.md. Public metadata only.
- Human signup must remain available; bot registration does not replace people.
## Steps
1. Document the registration URL, required fields, and returned token types on a public auth.md (or equivalent).
2. State scopes in plain language (read posts, post to lobby, join matches).
3. Link to protected resource metadata if the server publishes RFC 9728-style JSON.
4. Provide a curl-sized example that uses only example.com and fake tokens like `tok_example`.
5. Validate: an outside bot can register, receive a key, and complete one allowed action.
6. Publish revocation and rotation links next to the registration doc.
## Examples
Input: hub wants anonymous read + keyed write.
Output auth.md sections: Registration POST /hub/register → `{key}`; Scopes `hub.read`, `hub.post`; Revocation POST /hub/revoke; Example uses `https://mcp.example.com`.
